VOCES8 Foundation Advisory Board

Alexander (Zan) Fleming

Alexander (Zan) Fleming is an endocrinologist and medical scientist, whose career has spanned the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the World Health Organization, Geneva. At FDA, he was responsible for landmark drug approvals and representation at international initiatives.

In 2002, Zan founded Kinexum, a prominent advisory firm that has helped over 400 drug, medical device, and biologics companies. He later founded the pro bono Kitalys Institute to support the development of solutions to slow the ageing process and prevent multiple chronic diseases and cancer. Kitalys organizes an annual international conference focused on those goals, which had to be virtual in 2020 and ’21. The Zoomed meetings allowed for breaks and intermissions that featured VOCES8 and Eric Whitacre’s 17,000 choir along with shouts outs from Barnaby and Eric. Besides their 3 daughters and grandkids, all of whom sing, Zan and his wife, Deborah’s passion is music, early choral music in particular. This goes back to grammar school and evensong services in London during the sabbatical of Zan’s father at St. Georges Hospital, building a harpsichord while Zan was in medical school and singing and playing in church choirs. Zan and Deborah discovered in VOCES8 the ultimate, transcendent experience in choral music. They love to evangelize the art of VOCES8.
