Cathryn Booth-LaForce
Cathryn Booth-LaForce, Ph.D. is a Professor at the University of Washington and a developmental research scientist. In longitudinal research projects spanning infancy to adulthood, she studies children’s experiences in various contexts (family, childcare, school, peer groups) to evaluate the impact on their growth and development. She is particularly focused on children’s social-emotional development, and on early prevention programs for children at risk of poor outcomes.
Cathryn is a Charter Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, and an elected member of the Washington State Academy of Sciences. She is one of the top recipients of grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and has received numerous awards for her research.
She is passionate about music and is an avid lifelong choral singer. Cathryn’s past service has included membership on the Advisory Board of the University of Washington Meany Center for the Performing Arts, with a special emphasis on youth programs and artist engagement in underserved communities.
