‘Le vase brisé’; is a concept album tracing the arc of a romantic relationship — from the thrill of new love to the pain of heartbreak. Featuring world premiere recordings by 19th-century female composers Clémence de Grandval and Augusta Holmès, it’s beautifully woven with works by Liszt, Hahn, Duparc, Boulanger, Tosti, Viardot, and Bellini.
The journey moves from the tenderness of Hahn’s ‘À Chloris’ to the heartbreak of Tosti’s ‘Non t’amo più!’ and Grandval’s moving title track, closing with reflections on love and loss through the words of Petrarch and Sully Prudhomme.
