VOCES8 Records is delighted to release the debut EP from Lyyra.
Lyyra's EP More Love includes world premiere recordings of new pieces and arrangements written especially for Lyyra’s exceptional sound. The group is joined for two tracks by sister ensemble VOCES8.
The six singers of Lyyra are masters of a wide variety of genres and More Love explores every corner of that expertise. From the Renaissance writing of Leonora d’Este to virtuosic vocal jazz arrangements, the album includes: a mesmerizing arrangement of three Bengali melodies, Jhoro Jhoro, by the group's own Shabnam Abedi; Paul Smith's haunting arrangement of the melancholic folk tune Wayfaring Stranger; Irving Berlin’s Blue Skies, newly arranged by Michael Wheaton; Blake Morgan’s new arrangement of Time after Time; the lush choral soundscape of Don Macdonald's When the Earth Stands Still and More Love, written for Lyyra by US composer Taylor Scott Davis.
More Love is out now and available to listen to on your favourite streaming platform.
