VOCES8 is joined by the Miami-based Frost Chorale for an afternoon of music at the VOCES8 Centre
VOCES8 is joined by the premier choral ensemble from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, and their director Amanda Quist.
The concert will include performances from the two groups separately, as well as a set together which will include Benjamin Britten’s ‘Choral Dances from Gloriana’.
The Frost Chorale is visiting London as part of a European tour and we are thrilled to host this wonderful ensemble at the VOCES8 Centre for an afternoon of outstanding choral performances.
With its long tradition of excellence, the choral program at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami is well known for its outstanding ensembles. The Choral Studies Program is committed to musical excellence and to the importance of the arts in the enrichment of life. The curriculum is designed to build a skilled and well-rounded musician, developing the inherent musical and personal strengths of both the undergraduate and graduate student. We believe that music ennobles the human spirit.
The premier choral ensemble at the Frost School of Music, the award winning Frost Chorale performs the entire canon of choral music, gives world premieres, makes acclaimed recordings, and travels both nationally and abroad. The ensemble consists of undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Miami. The Chorale has appeared at regional and national conventions including the American Choral Directors Association conferences, and regularly joins professional orchestras to perform choral-orchestral repertoire. The Frost Chorale gave its debut performance under Dr. Amanda Quist, the new Director of Choral Activities, in October 2019. The Chorale has performed in collaboration with the New World Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas, Cleveland Orchestra, has been invited to collaborate with Orchestra Miami, and to record for composer Elaine Hagenberg. Beginning in January 2022, we will launch our Seraphic Fire Scholars program, which will feature 8 singers from Chorale in performance collaboration with Seraphic Fire. During the 2020-2021 season, the Chorale collaborated with workshop guests such as Venezuelan conductor Maria Guinand, composers Eric Whitacre, Joel Thompson, Zanaida Robles, Dale Trumbore, Rosephanye Powell, and Blake Morgan, professional singer with Voces8. As a part of Frost’s community outreach, members of the Chorale are engaged at area churches, school programs, and as individual performers with various entities. They also present performances and musical exchanges with area high school choral programs.
