Dawn: Reflected - Thursday 3rd October 2019, 19:00
Join international award-winning British vocal ensemble Apollo5, celebrating their tenth anniversary, VOCES8 co-founder Paul Smith and Neil Valentine (viola) for a night of music spanning the Renaissance, Classical and Contemporary Classical genres. The concert will be based on the two album releases in 2019, O Radiant Dawn and Reflections.
Handel's Messiah - Monday 2nd December 2019, 19:00
Artistic Director Barnaby Smith directs the combined forces of VOCES8, VOCES8 Scholars, Apollo5 and the Academy of Ancient Music in a spirited performance of Handel’s oratorio masterpiece.
“[Handel] would surely have delighted in the bristling, youthful economy and grace of a small-scale performance last week by Voces8 … all conducted with infectious energy by Barnaby Smith. With the Academy of Ancient Music providing fi ery orchestral colour, this Messiah rocked along with breathtaking fervour, but left space for contemplation too.” —The Guardian
Re:generation - Thursday 13th February 2020, 19:00
Come and hear the next generation of solo and choral stars in a relaxed evening with VOCES8 Foundation Associate Artist Sam Dressel and the VOCES8 Scholars. Music by Britten, Purcell, Byrd and Dowland for tenor, guitar and vocal ensemble.
Victoria's Tenebrae Responsories - Thursday 2nd April 2020, 19:00
A candlelit performance by Stile Antico of arguably the finest work of the Spanish Renaissance. Tomas Luis da Victoria’s intense settings of the Tenebrae Responsories provide an unrivalled glimpse into the Catholic liturgy at the height of the church year. The emotionally charged motets follow the story of Christ’s passion from his betrayal to his burial, displaying a composer at the height of his powers.
Lullabies for a City - Thursday 4th June 2020, 19:00
A world premiere performance of a new work created for VOCES8 and the London Contemporary Orchestra, working with students from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and inspired by the renowned multi-disciplinary artist Luke Jerram. The concert will be created and directed by Paul and Barnaby Smith and will feature the launch of a new sound installation designed to stay in the VOCES8 Centre for a month after the concert.
After Silence - Monday 10th August 2020, 19:00
Join VOCES8 for their 15th Anniversary celebration concert. The programme will include some of the ensemble’s best loved repertoire and arrangements as well as providing a chance to celebrate in their annual end of season concert along with some special guests.
